The Good Doctor Recap 03/26/24: Season 7 Episode 4 Date Night

In tonight’s The Good Doctor episode, Dr. Shaun Murphy has done great things. He lives an amazing life for someone on the spectrum. He knocked down barriers. However, he doesn’t think the new resident was capable of the same. He no longer wishes to work with Charlie. Charlie was riding with Park today.

Shaun gave neither of them the choice in the matter. Charlie could work with other doctors just fine. She was there when Park got what many assumed was a drug addict. Dr. Jordan Allen saw his veins and she knew they were blown veins instead of track marks. Their patient has sickle cell. He was undergoing treatment for that and has a port and everything.

The last hospital that Nathan Speed went to wasn’t as thorough. They wrote him off as a drug addict. They kept trying to talk him into a program and it took days to convince them differently. Nathan found better luck at this hospital because the doctor knows him. They both attend the same church.

They also both performed in the choir and Nathan hasn’t been seen in either church or choir in months. He’s been getting sicker lately. It couldn’t all be the sickle cell. There had to be something else wrong with him and so his doctors ordered an MRI when he complained of his ringing in his ear.

Jordan thought he was missing church because of her. Nathan had asked her out and she turned him down. It wasn’t the best time for her. She hasn’t seen much of him since then. Until he showed up at her hospital. They quickly developed a flirtation. She was in a better place now.

He was now the one in crisis. He has a brain tumor. It was benign. It was also growing and so they have to remove it or it risks killing him. The downside to removing it was that Nathan would lose his hearing after surgery. And he couldn’t sing without his hearing.

Nathan couldn’t sing in a choir. Something he loves. It’s no kind of life when all sense of joy has been removed and that’s why he decided not to have the surgery. He wants to stay him as long as possible. There’s nothing the doctors could say to get him to change his mind.

Not even the date that Jordan was reconsidering for after he was released from the hospital. It’s never easy for a doctor to date. Take Morgan and Park. They got back together two months ago. They haven’t slept together in all that time.

They were always focused on the baby. The baby slept with them. Moving the baby wakes her up. They also couldn’t leave the room long enough for sex because the baby couldn’t be left on her own.

They weren’t the only new parents struggling. Shaun and Lea barely talk now that the baby is in the picture. Lea was tired all the time. Shaun did his part when he came home. He changes the baby. He fed the baby. He puts him down for his nap and then he leaves a note for his wife on his pillow saying “I Miss You”.

Lea saw the message. She stopped by the hospital. She agreed to a date night. They were going to let one of their friends babysit and they were just going to have fun. Park and Morgan tried the same thing. They tried to get some alone time at the hospital. They messed up a supply closet.

They almost doused themselves in ammonia. Meaning they didn’t get to enjoy the closet to the fullest. They also were spotted coming up of the closet by Charlie. Charlie ran scenarios through A.I. She thinks she found a way to remove the tumor without destroying Nathan’s hearing.

It was a new surgery. It’s never been done before. He might still lose his hearing and he didn’t want to have faith about possibly keeping it. Charlie may have been a nuisance for Shaun, but she was a rockstar for Park. The doctors convinced Nathan to have surgery. Shaun on the other hand was dealing with a sad case.

His patient has early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The patient was young. He was in his thirties and he was getting worse everyday. He injured himself by running away from his wife because he didn’t recognize her. And now his wife is pregnant, she’s been told she couldn’t take care of her husband a baby together.

It would be too much for her. When her husband was having rational thought, he agreed with them. He told her to put him in a home that was covered by his insurance. He didn’t want her to use their savings to get him into a better place. He wanted a cheap place.

That she could visit with the baby. Shaun later went on a date with Lea and it was bust. She wanted to rush home to check on Steve. Shaun wanted to return to the hospital because he was able to determine that the patient doesn’t have Alzheimer’s.

His patient was suffering from some deficiency in his neck. Shaun was attending to that when Nathan was getting out of surgery. Nathan could hear still.

His date with Jordan was off, but he didn’t mind. He still got to sing for her. Shaun’s patient had surgery in the meantime. They fixed the problem with his neck. He was now lucid and he couldn’t wait to have a baby with his wife. And Park and Morgan finally had sex in the car.

Also, Dr. Audrey Lim’s mother was in town. She pretended she was there to be a part of a drug trial when really she’s there to see her daughter and to make sure that Audrey was going to be alright. A mother knows when a child is simply repeating find instead of actually being fine.
