In tonight’s #GoldenBachelor episode, it was a new age of the Bachelor franchise. Some might call it the Golden Age. This was the first time that the entire cast of this latest season were in their golden years. Take this year bachelor. Gerry Turner is seventy-two and proud. Gerry was married for forty-three years to the love of his life, Toni.

He thought he’d stay married to Toni for the rest of his life. But sadly, she passed away six years ago. Gerry still cries when he thinks about Toni. She was his high school sweetheart. They got married young and started a family together. And it was this very same family that reminded Gerry that he still has a lot to live for.

This was his second act. He can fall in love again. He might even last longer than the traditionally younger bachelors because Gerry has it in him to commit to someone. He’s done it before. He’s finally ready to do it again. Gerry isn’t looking to replace Toni. He simply wants to meet someone he could love in a new way. The same went for a lot of the ladies that were joining him this season. Things were off to a great start with Edith. She showed up in a bomb dress and looked flawless. All of the women tonight were very beautiful.

Some of them were rocking the silver hair. Some of them was rocking stellar dresses. Some of them were even dropping so many f bombs that the show was constantly beeping them out. It was the Bachelor albeit the Golden Bachelor and so there was some craziness. There was a woman that came in wearing a traditional granny outfit because she wanted to unveil herself as the sexy grandma. There were genuine women. There were crazy women. It was a mixed bag tonight. Gerry at least was smiling through it all.

Gerry truly enjoyed himself meeting the ladies. Then there was Concetta. She was also known as Aunt Chippy. She was the aunt of famed talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and she too desired a chance with Gerry. She didn’t do up her make up like the others. Or wore a skimpy dress like some of the others. She was very Chippy. She also made everyone laugh with her running commentary on the other ladies. And Gerry had already noticed some of them that had a special capacity for smiling all the way up to their eyes.

It was the ones that gave him the genuine smiles that he remembered. After Gerry was done with being introduced to the ladies, he went to go greet them as a group and here the ladies played the game. They quickly pulled Gerry aside. They all wanted alone time with him. They all did their best to make him laugh as well as remember them. There was one woman that played him a song on a guitar. The one thing that most had in common was that they wanted to dance with Gerry. Gerry enjoys dancing, but he wasn’t very good at it, and he gladly admits that himself.

Theresa was the bravest because she made sure to grab a kiss from Gerry. Only Gerry gave his first impression rose to Faith. Faith rode in on a motorcycle to meet him. She sang him a song. She made him feel special and so that’s why he gave her the first rose of the night. He even clinched it by making out with Faith afterwards. Chippy missed it because she went to bed early. To be fair to her, it really was pass her bedtime. Gerry had said it was also passed his bedtime. This group tends to watch the six o’clock news, not the one at eleven.

Then the rose ceremony came. Gerry was handing out roses. There weren’t enough roses for everyone. The final rose of the night went to Susan who beat out some great women. One of them was a literal cheerleader. She came in sweats. She was rocking poms poms. She did a little dance for Gerry when they first met and it hadn’t been enough. It hadn’t given him a strong enough impression of her. And after the rose ceremony, there were a few snippets from the future episodes and one of them showed the complete heartbreak of Theresa.

Theresa was a lovely woman. She was just taking a chance at finding love after twenty years and its sad that Gerry wasn’t her fairytale ending. And Aunt Chippy slept through the rose ceremony. She was later woken up to learn she didn’t get a rose.
